Personal Childhood Web

 

During my childhood, the five people who nurtured and cared about me the most were Chester, Lillian, Angela, Cedric, and Darryl.  Chester Ingram is my grandfather. 

                                                                          

My grandfather was a sweet man that gave me anything I wanted.  Lillian Ingram is my grandmother. 

My grandmother gave me anything I wanted, but she was the disciplinary person in my life.  I only got into trouble a couple times in my childhood.  However, each time I was given my consequence from my grandmother.  Angela Ingram is my mother.  

 My mother always provided me with love and attention.  Cedric Ingram and Darryl Ingram are my uncles.

My uncles always encouraged me and played games with me.  I can recall when my uncle Cedric got Sega Genesis for Christmas one year.  I would play the video Sonic with him over and over.  When I felt like wrestling, I would always go to my uncles.  They would toss me in the air and throw me over their shoulders.

            I am my mother’s only child, and I was the only grandchild till I was about 17 years old.  A lot of attention was given to me for a long time.  Especially since there were no other children around. Everyone in my family always influenced me to do my best.  The Ingram last name was well known in the town I grew up in.  My mother and her brothers were star high school athletes.  My uncle Darryl made it all the way to the National Football League.  Therefore, within the community, I was representing my family.  It was important to not embarrass the family name.  However, I believe my family wanted me to believe in myself and know that I could accomplish my dreams.  They encouraged me to try my best and to know that I was loved and supported.  My family made me feel special by always supporting my dreams and being there for me during my times of need.

            My uncle Cedric and my grandparents are in heaven.  Their deaths were extremely difficult for me.  They had a huge impact in my life.  The knowledge and love they provided me with has made me who I am.  However, they continue to impact my life still.  When I have a moment of stress, I think about what they would say to me.  They would tell me to stop crying and be brave.  They would remind me that I am an Ingram, and failing is not an option.  They would tell me to learn from my mistakes and to keep moving forward.  My mother continues to impact my life by providing me advice when I need it.  My uncle Darry continues to impact my life by supporting me with words of encouragement every now and then. 

            I am incredibly grateful and blessed for the individuals that took part in my upbringing.  Due to the love and knowledge my family provided me, I was able to make a few good decisions in my life.  In life, there will always be good times and bad times.  However, I am thankful that in my life, there have been more good times than bad times.

  Adjourning In 2015 I moved to Norfolk, Virginia and started my career with the United States Navy as a civilian employee that works with children in the Child and Youth Program.  Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally Unicef – Consultant Unicef is an international organization that appeals to me because they help children living in the most dangerous situations around the world. According to United Nations Children’s Fund website, “Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.” (n.d.) I like that Unicef is non-political and impartial. I would like to work for an organization that helps children in need. I like that the organization provides humanitarian needs to children that are in emergency situations, such as war. Defending the rights of children, I believe would be a fulfilling career. A current job opportunity that interests me is as a Consultant that works in Angola. Angola is a country on the west coast of Southern Africa.     Thus far in this course I have learned that communication is more than words. Communication can occur with body language as well. The television episode that I chose to watch was from a very old television show called The Jeffersons. The episode of The Jeffersons that I watched was from season 3 and it was episode 16 titled, George’s Guilt. At the beginning of the episode a relationship that was determined early on was between George and Weezy. The scene began with George opening the door for Weezy and then helping her remove her coat. George was attentive and helpful to Weezy which leads me to understand that they have a close relationship.   The next relationship that I observed with no sound was between Florence and George.
