Words of Inspiration and Motivation - Week 7
According to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment
"To share resources with
coworkers, collaborating to ensure that the best possible early childhood care and education program is provided."
This statement is significant to my professional life because in order to provide the youth in my care with the most opportunities available to them I must collaborate with my colleagues. There have been many times I was not aware that something was occurring for the youth in my care. I depend on my colleagues to share information with me. In addition, I share information with them. There is always something new and exciting that could be potential used to provide better care and education to our program. For example, when I first began working with teens I was not aware that every October there is a College Night held at the local convention center. I only became aware, because a co-worker provided that information to me. I am very thankful for the collaborating experience I receive with my colleagues
According to the Division for Early Childhood (DEC)
" We shall empower families with information and resources so that they are informed consumers of services for their children."
This statement is significant to my professional life because as a childcare provider I believe it is my responsibility to inform parents and guardians about services that available for their youth. Some families I simply not aware of all the services available for them and their youth. Every event my facility hosts we provide tables for resources to set up information tables. For military families, we often provide a table to Fleet and Family Services. Some families may need help from other resources but have no idea where to begin. I enjoy being a bridge for families to connect to resources.
According to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment
"To welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the program."
This statement is significant to my professional life because at my facility we always have new family members arriving and family members departing. It is important that we recognize arriving and departing youth. We recognize youth by taking them on a tour, putting their picture on our bulletin board, and pairing them with a buddy. We recognize departing youth by assisting them with their move. We contact the next military facility they are arriving at. We then create a point of contact for families at their next childcare center.
