Blog Assignment: Sharing Web Resources

 

 

The name of the organization that I choose related to early childhood education is Save The Children. The website link for Save The Children is https://savethechildren.org. The organization's focus is on providing children worldwide with a healthiness, education, and safety. I like that the organization's purpose is to reach as many children as possible around the world. The organization also focuses on collecting donations to fund efforts to help children all over the world.

            One current issue from the website that caught my attention was Save the Children Statement on Cease fire Announced in Gaza and Israel. This article caught my attention because I have seen a lot of discussions and pictures about the topic on social media and the news. In addition, a dear friend of mine is Palestinian, and I wanted to know if any information in the article would be of interest to her. The article mentioned that on May 21st, Gaza and Israel announced a ceasefire. Sadly, the article says the death rate of children in the two areas. According to Save the Children Statement on Ceasefire Announced in Gaza and Israel, "Since May 10, 65 children have died in Gaza, and two children have died in Israel." (Save the Children,2021). The article discusses how the organization plans to as soon as possible go to the area and help in need. I was surprised to read that the organization mentioned the idea of the United States taking the lead to bring the Palestinians and Israelis together to figure out a solution. I liked that the organization puts children first but also addresses the main issue. I believe my friend would enjoy reading this article and find comfort in knowing an organization is on its way to help the children of her country.

 


Something else that I learned from studying the website was that the organization produces articles about how children are being affected by events worldwide. When reviewing previous reports, I noticed many current events were mentioned and how children were affected by the event. For example, an article titled, 'Children and Youth must be Kept Safe during Protests in Colombia' – Save the Children. The protest in Colombia occurred a few weeks. I was surprised to see that the organization is involved in current events.

 

I am pleased that I choose this organization. The organization is up to date and aware of current issues affecting children all over the world. Save the Children is an organization I would recommend to someone that wanted to help children. Also, I like that they mention political issues that are affecting children without picking a political side.

    I like how the Save the Children organization keeps up with issues and tends worldwide. I was listening to the news this morning about Gaza and Israel. Honestly it was the first time I heard what was happening. I only watch the news on Saturday and Sundays but it is mostly local news that I watch. Today I was watching the national newsroom.
    It's wonderful the article focused on the impact all the fighting has on the children. I believe events like this are okay to talk about with the children but they should be exposed to them first hand without talking about what is going on. They should feel safe and secure in their environments worldwide.

 Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally Unicef – Consultant Unicef is an international organization that appeals to me because they help children living in the most dangerous situations around the world. According to United Nations Children’s Fund website, “Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.” (n.d.)     Thus far in this course I have learned that communication is more than words. Communication can occur with body language as well. The television episode that I chose to watch was from a very old television show called The Jeffersons. The episode of The Jeffersons that I watched was from season 3 and it was episode 16 titled, George’s Guilt. At the beginning of the episode a relationship that was determined early on was between George and Weezy. The scene began with George opening the door for Weezy and then helping her remove her coat.
