When a childcare professional
is able to provide a child with a guidance a bond is created between the child
and the adult. My chosen topic for the simulation is guidance. When a childcare
professional provides positive guidance for a child, I believe the child will
have more opportunities to experience learning in a safe environment. It is vital
that a childcare professional be engaged with children and provide them with
guidance. I believe guidance is important because without it an individual is
not providing an experience that will influence the life of a child. I believe
in order for an individual to provide appropriate positive guidance they must
educate themselves and participate in trainings that allow them to demonstrate what
they have learned.
I have chosen the topic
guidance, because I want to make a strong impact on the lives of the children I
care for. I want to be someone they remember provided them with live long memories.
In addition, I want to learn more about the different ways I can provide
guidance to children.
Prior to week 1 of this
course, I would spend hours looking through articles on Google Scholar. I would
read entire research articles looking for information I needed for my coursework.
I would often find it challenging to read through a lot of articles. However, I
enjoyed learning last week about the different parts of a research article.
Last weeks assignment, helped me to break a research article into parts and
know what each part contains.
One of the subtopics I am
interested in exploring and learning about is childhood guidance for children
from military families. As an individual that works with military families, I
believe that are certain situations that children of military families must
deal with or be concerned about. I believe an individual that cares for
military children must be trained on the proper guidance to provide children of
these situations. Does anyone have advice or insight or on research articles
that would help me through my research? Does anyone have personal experiences
as a military child that they would like to share in regard to childcare and guidance?
I believe that given the
proper guidance children of military families can be resilient during difficult
situations. Military children at my facility are dealing with parents that are
on deployment or frequently relocations. I would like to discover more research
on how I can support children dealing with these issues. I am looking for positive
tools that I can use to provide proper care to children.
Supporting military families during times of stress is difficult especially when it comes to the children. I had a set of triplets last year who cried everyday because they missed their dad. I would facetime him for them but he wasn’t always able to talk. He sat on the phone and cried with the children one day and my heart literally dropped. The way I dealt with this particular situation was comforting them as much as I could. Even the class pitched in with hugs and comforting the triplets. With them being small children it helped out a bit but there were still days the triplets weren't having it.
